This is an example of one of those off-to-the-side jokes that just stuck with me since the first time I heard it. I'm not a huge 'Family Guy' fan anymore, but this bit will crack me up every time...
...and apparently someone else found it as hysterical as I did. I couldn't find the clip on YOUTUBE, but there was a coupla cats imitating it. Someone was kind enough to build a website just looping this special random moment from 'Family Guy'.
Ain't nuthin' like the real thing, click the title of this post and have a chuckle.

Great Bastards In Film; 'Alonzo' in 'Training Day'
Alonzo (as played by Denzel Washington): Whatta total bastard. Not one redeeming quality, not a one. A bully. A crooked cop. A manipulator. A scumbag. A total bastard.
...and he be screaming that typical weak shit to the ladies...
What? Could you say, "Well, he loved his son."? Yeah? He used the kid as a shield! You might propose that he did SOME good at some point in his life, but we don't really get to see any of it. Does this count?
He's a dick, a ruthless dick at that. Absolutely revolting and totally charismatic; despicable, yet you can't stop watching. It's a great flick (actually, more of a great performance), but it will make you feel dirty.
He is as filthy as any cop has ever been portrayed to be in a film (other than MAYBE Harvey Keitel in 'Bad Lt.'). I was actually far more disturbed by Alonzo than I was the Bad Lt. because I felt like 'Bad Lt.' was as much about the downward spiral into drug-addiction as it was the corruption that is inherent in so many 'do-gooders'. Alonzo in 'Training Day' is far more hatable. He has no qualms about putting ANYBODY in harm's way to save his own ass AND he spends the whole film trying to corrupt (and use) the new guy, Jake (played by Ethan Hawke). Yet and still, you WANT him to be good. 'Goodness' is the furthest thing from his mind. You spend the whole film waiting for him to redeem himself.
He doesn't. It just gets worse and worse; Alonzo is ALWAYS in the middle of it. To think that this film all takes place in one day is mind-blowing. This dude does so much rotten shit in one day, if the flick ended with him getting struck by lightning, I would've found it plausible.
Alonzo from 'Training Day'; a 'Great Bastard In Film'.
Thunder and The Doc.
Nothing like the sound of thunder to help a Brother get to sleep.
I had planned to go out last night, maybe just for a little while. When I returned home from My day at Northside News, I turned on the television to be informed that it was about to come DOWN. I think the exact wording the weatherman used was, 'It's finna rain like a mug, get your ass under a table or some shit.'
I made the decision to stay in the house. Watched the Boston Celtics beat the Detroit Pistons, which brought me infinite joy. I will hold onto this grudge against the Pistons for a long time; they ruined Uncle Reggie's best chance for a ring, or did y'all forget...?
I will never forget, yo. Things haven't been the same since here in Indiana.
...and I am an old-school Celtic-Hater. It was really hard for me to root for them. That damn Larry Bird (who is now the President of the Pacers) and them kept my beloved Dr. J from getting all the rings I so desperately wanted for him. Man, The Doctor was THAT DUDE.
Ahh. the good ol' days. My Uncle Tim met The Doctor once when the Sixers were in town to play our Pacers. The Doc was at Mickey D's (this is when athletes weren't so dad-blamed health-conscious and McDonald's was still a viable option for regular meals. Remember how Larry Bird and Vlade Divac would smoke at their locker?) Unc went up to Doc and asked if he could get an autograph for his nephew (ME!). Doc had to shoot him down. With Big Mac in hand, the Doc told my Uncle...
"I'm eating, man."
Right on, Doc. Tim wasn't even mad. He even explained it to me and it gave me a whole new understanding of 'celebrity' and 'personal space'. As a kid, I probably woulda been heartbroken if he had said it to me. My Uncle had to be about 26 or so and the Doc probably had people running up on him all day. He was the face of the league at this time. So, when some Brutha comes up to him asking for an autograph 'for his nephew', I am pretty sure the Doc had a reaction like 'YEAH, RIGHT.', wiped the Special Sauce from his hands, and waved my Uncle off. And I woulda too; shoooooooot....'I'm eating, man, and make sure you take your nephew to see 'The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh.'
Doc rules. Click the title for proof.

Philinthecircle - Goodbye Art
This is a cat that I have been watching and following for a while. He's a Artist from Seattle named Phil Hansen that does remarkable stuff. He's on Youtube under the name 'Philinthecircle'
I stumbled upon his work when I was searching Youtube for an opening-credit sequence from an old Jimi Hendrix documentary. The clip I was looking for was this cat 'speed-painting' Jimi on a wall. It was the first time I had ever seen anybody do anything like that, I must have been 12 or 13 when I saw it. The image of this dude, seemingly randomly splashing paint on this wall and Jimi appearing outta these random splashes has stuck with me since I first saw it. I haven't found this clip on Youtube and if anyone can discern what Jimi flick I am talking about and/or has the clip I'd love to see it again. Shoot me a link, wouldja?
As I was searching the 'Tube, I fell upon Philinthecircle. I'm including my three favorite clips thus far, as well as the links to his joints in general, so you can go and check them all out yourself. He's well worth checking out. And when you see what he does with the final products in his 'Goodbye Art' series, you'll appreciate what you've seen that much more.

AUDREY!
Yuh know, I have shot a buncha little clips. Sometimes you don't realize how awesome something can be until you get into the editing phase (at least that has been my experience so far. I've only had my camera for a few months.)
Audrey starts to say something and it seems as if she got stuck, but I think it actually was proof-positive of how incredible children and their propensity to love is.
"I love...I love...I love...I love every day and I do stuff that I do every day." - Audrey
I suppose it doesn't hurt to get good advice from a three-year-old.
John Woo's 'Red Cliff'
John Woo is coming BACK!
I first got turned onto John Woo years and years ago. 'The Killer' was the first John Woo film I saw. Blew my mind; non-stop action, great story; it was like my favorite comic books had come to life. There was no need to reload the guns; who's interested in that anyway? Just shoot, man.
'The Killer' has gone on to be a classic amongst hip-hop heads, as well, fueled by the Wu-Tang Clan and their classic 'Yo, Mef, where my 'Killer' tape at?' skit from '36 Chambers'.
Anyway, it's been quite some time since John Woo made a movie. He's working on an epic of 'epic proportions' called 'Red Cliff'. I saw a nine-minute trailer from it online and it looks absolutely astounding.
Here is the short trailer for 'Red Cliff'. If you can find the longer trailer from the Cannes Film Festival, make sure you check it out.

M-Eighty featuring Rusty Redenbacher-'Hot Damn'
M-Eighty is a dude that I have watched grow from this kid who couldn't wait to rap 897 syllables in a bar into a label-head/deep-thinking cat that wastes no time onstage and no time behind the scenes making things happen. Over the last decade, it has been my pleasure to watch him become the Artist I always knew he would be. His stage-show is energetic, phrenetic, and focused at the same time. He works to the people in the crowd as well as any MC I have seen. His dedication to rocking the shit is formidable, his chemistry onstage with SON-ONE is to be envied...and he'll be selling the shirts in the back and making sure the acts get to the hotel after the show. The cat HUSTLES and I LOVE it.
We cut this song for his album, 'Hymns, Psalms, and Street Songs'. Eighty asked me to come through Dan Metro's spot and get busy. I was happy to oblige. We worked on the hook a little bit, but Eighty's hook was really nice. We changed a few words, subsequently changed the title and came up with a little banger called 'Hot Damn'...
Hope ya dig it...

Rusty Goes To See The Hives
Tell ya what; you wanna see a phenomenal rock n' roll show? Go see THE HIVES. I wish I coulda gotten more actual footage of the show, but my recorder doesn't do so well with live, LOUD sound. It was really about as good a live show as I have seen in years plus I gotta hang out with some of the old heads from the Glory Days of Broad Ripple, before it was infiltrated with squares, frat-boys and their shenanigans, and faux hipsters.
...and what is even cooler is that the good Dr. Matt Destruction himself chimed in on muh little video and put me up on some game for ya. That's a good look, Doc.
This is Saturday Night with the HIVES!

Kids Do The Darndest Things! Ghost-Ride The Whip!
Ummm, yeah....
I was sending this clip around to some friends about two weeks ago. This kid says some stuff that is so wrong on so many levels, but I can't help but laugh, perhaps outta sheer shock at how CRAZY this story is.
Maybe, I should be doing more hood-rat stuff with my friends. You get a lotta press outta that.

Hey, y'all. Here I Am...
Well, ain't THIS sweet?
I have decided to enter the Blogosphere, feet first. And here I am.
I will be using this to discuss various things I dig and don't, mostly the stuff I dig. I'll also post updates on what is going on in my Life, in general.
The Blogosphere is a crazy world; I made my way here first on the MUDKIDS Myspace page. When I felt as if some of the things I wanted to talk about weren't MUDKIDS-related, I started my own page and started blogging there a bit. As time has gone on and I have read more blogs and written a lotta blogs of my own, I realized that this wasn't something I was gonna stop doing and there were things that I wouldn't wanna necessarily discuss there.
I have recognized the power of the word and I am thankful for any forum to express myself.
I'm glad to be here; big-up to alpha. and my man, Romer for finally pushing me into the Blogspot.
As for Me? Here's what I believe will be the first single from the upcoming MUDKIDS release, 'We Are Dynamic And People Like Us'. It's called 'Love'. I have shot a buncha little videos and stuff; please check out my YOUTUBE channel.
